We are pleased to present you with the comprehensive list of winners of the 2023 Abilympics in Metz, an international competition for people with disabilities in various professions. The participants, all talented individuals, were awarded for their exceptional determination, competence, and expertise in their respective fields of expertise.

The evaluation of participants was based on rigorous criteria such as the quality of work, speed of execution, and precision.

We are particularly proud of the French team for their outstanding performance in this competition, winning a total of 29 medals, including 10 gold, 11 silver, and 8 bronze. The medalists have demonstrated their expertise in their respective fields while overcoming challenges related to their disabilities.

We are proud of each person who participated in this competition for their incredible performances and impressive achievements. Their success is a testament to their talent, determination, and hard work. FRANCE WINS 29 MEDALS!

 

Brice won the Gold Medal and Medal of Excellence in Baking, Sylvaine and Célia, respectively won Gold and Silver in Floral Art, Morgane/Mikaël won Gold and Marie/Sophie won Silver in pairs Cooking, Dimitri won Gold and Yannick won Bronze in Landscape Gardening, Maël won Bronze in Web Design, Delphine also won Bronze in Pastry-making, Cloé won Gold in Fashion, Jaime won Silver, just behind Korea, which he was dreading so much ...
France pocketed 29 medals - 10 Gold, 11 Silver and 8 Bronze - and rose to 2nd place in these 10th International Abilympics, behind South Korea (31) and ahead of Chinese Taipei/Taiwan (20).

The medallists and all the delegations went crazy at the Metz Arena on Saturday evening during the closing ceremony, after 3 intense days of competition. Stress and concentration, tears and laughter, self-doubt and self-confidence, hope and relief... emotions were running high for the 400 or so competitors, but also for the experts, judges, support teams and families, some of whom had travelled long distances to cheer on and encourage the competitors.
For some, winning a medal felt a little like turning the tables on life, and for others it was one more victory, a stage, both professional and personal. Edwin, Océane and Néo who finished just off the podium, have already made up their minds; they want to relive the adventure in 4 years’ time, to defend the colours of France once more, but above all , to defend their own talent and excellence!

« Finishing at the top of the podium – I just couldn’t believe it! On the stage, there’s an explosion of joy, but at the same time we felt lost and disorientated with all eyes trained on us... But what a wonderful feeling! And then seeing my name reappear on the screens for the Medal of Excellence, that truly was the Holy Grail! But the best thing of all was the look of pride in the eyes of my wife and son.
These two medals are a kind of retribution for a life that hasn’t been kind. In this way we show the world that even if we are different, we can still reach our goals and even surpass them! »

Coming from all over France and one from Réunion Island, 43 candidates with disabilities aged 17 to 57, presented themselves on the starting line. Congratulations to everyone! 29 of them won a medal.

After a 2022 full of twists, turns and projects, the Abilympics France team is about to end their year. This December, it’s already time to look ahead to 2023 and their flagship event – the 10th International Abilympics.

42 talented people recruited from the French delegation

Abilympics France has criss-crossed the region and skills competitions to recruit 42 gems to represent the French Tricolour. From 23rd to 25th March 2023 in Metz, the French delegation will attend the 10th International Abilympics.

2022, a presence at many events

Competitors from the French delegation have been very active in their preparation for the10th International Abilympics France. Several have taken part in preparatory events such as the Erasmus+ education week in Helsinki, in partnership with Skills Finland, the French team’s cohesion seminar in January 2022, which took place in Lyon and competition training courses with business coaches.

These meetings in particular, allowed candidates to prepare themselves physically, mentally and technically. Participation and success in the 2023 International Abilympics hinges on these different steps.

On the programme: 45 events, 400 talents from 25 different nations!

After a successful first event in France in 2016, when the 9th International Abilympics were implemented, France has once again accepted the challenge of organising the 10th International Abilympics in less than 6 months with the help of its partners.
The event will be held at the Parc des Expositions de l’Eurométropole de Metz from 23rd to 25th March.

Over the course of these 3 days, candidates with disabilities will compete in their chosen professions and highlight their know-how and talent. Which nations will come out on top? 🏅

2 events in 1 working for inclusion!

Organised jointly with the WorldSkills* regional finals for the Grand Est Region, the aim of this event is to reveal the skills of people with disabilities, so that the disability disappears letting professional skills shine through.

Abilympics France will meet you on the 24 and 25 March 2023 in Metz for the 10th  International Abilympics, THE world’s largest competition featuring people with disabilities !

Reveal the professional talent of people with disabilities

After the great success of its last edition in 2016, Abilympics France takes up the challenge again and will welcome you on 24 and 25 March 2023 at the Eurométropole de Metz exhibition center. During two days of competitions, contestants with disabilities from all around the world will showcase the excellence of their know-how.

Abilympics name comes from a combination between expertise, “Abilities” and “Olympics”. It is in skills competition what the Paralympic Games is in sport ; a real human adventure in which the excellence of professional skills brings together all audiences.

46 skills contests, 400 talents, 30 nations expected

This unique event will bring together nearly 1500 participants (contestants, judges, experts…) and about 50,000 visitors over 2 days. 34 contestants from the French national team will proudly represent their professions and the colors of their country  against participants from about 30 nations.

The public will be able to support the contestants during their high-level performances in various business areas (industry, construction, food, health, service, information and new technologies, media, crafts, leisure, creative arts). Many activities will punctuate this event and allow the public to participate, discover and try the skills. A rich conference program as well as an opening and closing ceremony will make the 10th International Abilympics a festive and emotional event during which we will celebrate iconic personalities with extraordinary backgrounds.

Inclusion, a key priority

Organized in conjunction with the WorldSkills* regional finals for the Grand-Est Region, this event aims to reveal the talent so that the disability fades in favor of professional competence.

A program of conferences, spaces dedicated to employment, disability and innovation … will be accessible to a large audience to fight again preconceived ideas and raise awareness.

Part of the French team preparing for the 10th International Abilympics during the “Olympiades des Métiers Nouvelle-Aquitaine”!

They were 8 contestants, competing in the Abilympics category at the WorldSkills regional finals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine which took place from 20 to 22 October at the Bordeaux-Lac exhibition center.

5 of them, members of the French national team, were able to perfect their training and preparation for the international Abilympics finals which will be held in Metz in March 2023.

3 days of competition in front of an audience of 41,000 people, 20 hours of efforts and concentration for a magnificent result.

On this occasion, we had the joy to discover the talents of Juliette Aminot, a young and talented hairdresser who is joining the ranks of our team for Metz 2023.

The official Abilympics outfit was personally handed to her by the President of Abilympics France Noël Roger, accompanied by the treasurer Bernard Massoneau and Juliette’s trainer, Mister Thierry Tubin.

A big thanks to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, which once again welcomed our contestants with open arms.
